Table Series
In their new Table Series, Rooms Studio is breaking all the rules. Supra, a traditional Georgian feast—celebrated for centuries in its beauty and presentation—has historically been led by poets, orators, singers, and musicians, yet nearly always dominated by men. Women’s role during Supra has been downplayed, remembered as caretakers, but left in the shadow of their male halves.
These tables shift that narrative. Created by two female designers, they embody a quiet femininity in their forms and subtle gestures. Without dominance, they adapt to the space, inviting reflection and conversation—an indirect performance of togetherness.
Each table carries its own individuality—of shape, form, material, scale, and presence—yet together they create a resonant whole. The series includes five dining tables, two of which (N1 and N2) feature extendable lengths. Their design holds a silent parallel to the on-going protests in the duo’s hometown, drawing inspiration from the 2025 New Year’s Eve in Tbilisi, when citizens transformed the city’s main avenue into an avenue-long Supra. More than a celebration, this was an interactive protest—neighbors, friends, and strangers coming together in solidarity and resistance.
Table N3 (Fragmented Supra) resembles a deconstructed tablecloth composed of loose squares. The piece is interactive, allowing the fabric segments to be removed and replaced with alternative materials. Like the series as a whole, it speaks of something beyond dinner. Celebrating solidarity and the urgency of both individual and collective action, Rooms Studio’s take on the Supra reminds us of all that has been at stake in Georgia.
